Identity Theft made easy

In this day and age where every one is trying to prevent identity theft it is extremely surprising to hear police officers read out a persons full name, social security number and make/color of car with the car’s license plate over a unencrypted radio channel. You would think that there would be rules against this, but obviously they must be thinking that there is no way for any one else to hear this traffic. Some times it just makes you wonder why there hasn’t been any sort of encryption put on the police bands so that normal people can’t hear this type of stuff.

Sucky day

Today started off ok, but as it went on it got worse and worse. I hope this weekend goes better.. Nothing like coming home to find that the ReplayTV that was working the previous night is now dead, who knows why other than the power strip it was plugged in to was off. All it does now is display “please wait”, the fan doesn’t turn on. Not sure how to diagnose what is wrong with it. Then server was down because of 2 power outages at the hosting place and it took me about an hour to get the disks fixed in it. And to top it all off a hundred and one projects that are all high priority and need done asap, but not enough time in the day/week to get everything done.

Solaris at the local book store

Was at the local barnes and noble looking through the magazine section to see if anything caught my eye, and low and behold look what I saw:

Solaris in a Linux Magazine

Yup Solaris Express in DVD form attached to the front of a Linux magazine. This was nice to see since I usually always see one of those rag’s with the “distro of the week ®” on it..

Lunar Eclipse

Took some pictures tonight of the Lunar eclipse. So freaking cold out side that my tripod actually frosted over… (18 degrees plus wind chill made it feel like about 7 or so)

Here are a couple of the pics, and some more here

Ralphie May

Went to see Ralphie May last night with Justin… What an excellent show. Probably even better than when I saw him in Austin, TX. He has lost a lot more weight which is good. One of the best parts of the show is when he saw a 8 or 9 year old boy in the front row with his parents. Once Ralphie saw him he went in to a little rant about why the parents would bring some one so young to his show.. It would have been cool to have a audio version of that show because it was 10 minutes shy of 2 straight hours of him on the stage. Hopefully he will come back some time, he is playing in Pittsburgh at the end of May.

This picture was taken while he was talking to “Robert” the 8 year old boy and his parents:
